Avatar: Govan The Great

After a long time a personal work.
I am a huge fan of Avatar the last air bender. Then came The legend of Korra, not as wisdom packed as TLAB but still interesting work. After finishing the second season of Korra, i had a concept for the next two avatars. The earth bender and fire bender avatars. I developed the earth bender avatar's story a little bit. Named him Govan (I am very bad at naming) set during the present time period to the future. I am not a big fan of sci-fi but everything becomes interesting when there is a touch of fantasy in it. The whole concept was formed in one night, right after i finished the second season of Korra. Was really excited and wrote it down.

So here's a rough concept of Govan. I might update the images with better ones later.

Storyline:

A fat avatar? You might be wondering...
Both are the same guy. First the lazy rich fat guy, then the tranfsormed avatar after his training.
You can read the whole story here: conceptteller.blogspot.in

About Art:
I couldnt find any good reference for this character. So had to do entirely from my mind. Took around 6 hrs maybe more i dont remember how many times i restarted the sketch.

I started a blog conceptteller.blogspot.com where we can share concepts with a backstory  or ideas for sequels/prequels etc with artworks ofcorse. Pls check it out.

Nobody is Safe!

Where is he going without wearing a seatbelt?

Did a poster for traffic rules about wearing seatbelts. People from countries having drivers seat on the other side should flip the picture.

Namah Shivaya

Finally....... The great god Shiva or  Neelakant (blue throat).
I lost count on how many times photoshop crashed while doing this, was totally frustrated and that resulted in the lazy background there.

Tiger

My First work in 2013. A Bengal Tiger.
I made this drawing as part of a character, but later it did not suit it, So thought of making it an individual work.
Yes, reference was used for the tiger.

Goddess of Death

Maha Kaali... Goddess of death and destruction after killing Raktabija. Slightly deviated from the actual kaali concept where her ornaments are only few cut out organs and bones. Took a lot of time for this piece... I am happy with it.
Drawing lava was fun... I ll be doing more of it.

Another Jungle

Another 'supposed to be a quick paint' which went on for 4-5 hrs.... Made for a storybook app.
There is some serious problem with my photoshop or driver, the colors/lightness something varies, what i render  is different from what i do in the interface. so i gotta do a lotta post work based on my guessing!
It would be great if somebody could help me with that...

The Assassin

Ever since i played assassin' creed 2 i became a hardcore assassin fan and had this story building up in my mind. Now that i have finished revelations and got nothin else to do other than wait for the next part, i created a new concept assassin. Ofcorse he is from India (Kerala), I know no history better than my place. Before getting down to story lemme tell you.... i am very bad in literature, so the reading pleasure is not guaranteed. It was pretty gud in my mind  dunno why i juz cant pull it out in a good way.

My friends loved the whole stuff and hope u all like it too.
Dont forget to leave your comments.

Story line:
This story is set in 17th century, around the time when portuguese started grippng their rule in India. The portuguese Templars trying to expand their kingdom arrives in the western coast.
They hear the idol of Minerva and great tresures which is in a the rock temple safe gaurded by the brotherhood. And they soon sets up plans to get it and befriend different kings from various territories expanding their number and gaining control over the cities.

Character:

Even though he was born to a brahmin family he was never into worshipping. He was fascinated by the assassins and their works ever since one of them saved him when he was little.
His father, his only relation, was the head pujari (priest) of the idol in the rock temple.
One day he hears that his father was murdered by the Templars and the idol went missing.
Soon he gets banished by his community and joins the assassins to recover and protect the idol and revenge his father's death.
There starts his journey  as an Assassin.

There are many other charecters too like doctors (vaidyan), blacksmiths (kollan), tribal people, sikh, khalasis etc all playing their parts. But for now this is it.

About the Pic:
This painting was done in 3 days and very slowly.... i had to redo most finally to arrive in this design. No reference, so der should be some anatomical problems but glad i made it this far!
Experimented some new styles. Loved how it turned out.
The BG (i know there is a mismatch) was juz a doodle.
Here is the initial doodle and BG versions:
